FIRMENICH RECOGNIZED BY CDP AS WORLD LEADER FOR ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

Geneva, Switzerland, January 29, 2018 – For the fourth consecutive year, Firmenich is pleased to announce its ranking on CDP’s Supplier Climate A List, among the top 2% of corporations participating in the program. Adding to its “A List” for Water, this recognition confirms Firmenich’s position as a world leader for its actions and strategies in response to climate change, water security and deforestation.

“Committed to leading our industry in climate change mitigation, we have set ourselves ambitious environmental goals and have a vision to be carbon neutral,” said Gilbert Ghostine, Firmenich CEO. “Reaching CDP’s Supplier Climate and Water A Lists is testament that our actions are making a difference for our colleagues, our customers and the planet.”

Dexter Galvin, CDP Global Director of Corporations & Supply Chains commented: “Firmenich is one of the leading companies in environmental performance: beyond its operations, Firmenich has committed to work with its supply chain to tackle climate change, water security and deforestation. We congratulate them for being recognized in the top 2% of suppliers and part of CDP’s Supplier Climate and Water A Lists.”

Jane Sinclair, Firmenich General Counsel added: “Being awarded an “A” in climate change and water management illustrates our deep commitment to environmental sustainability. Today, 100% of our European manufacturing sites solely rely on renewable electricity, and we are well on the way to achieving our objective of 100% of our plants powered by renewable energy by 2020.”

“Protecting and preserving our planet for the generations to come is part of our DNA. Firmenich’s excellent performance echoes our team’s indefectible pledge to the environment.” commented Neil McFarlane, Firmenich Senior Vice President Global Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environment. “Being ranked in CDP’s Supply Chain A Lists demonstrate how our close collaboration with our suppliers leads to more environmentally-friendly products and more sustainable manufacturing processes for our customers.”

The Supplier Climate A List released in CDP’s Closing the Gap: Scaling up Sustainable Supply Chain Practices presents 100 “A Listers” among over 4,800 companies, identified as demonstrating a superior approach to climate change mitigation. The report reveals that the climate leadership of big business is paying dividends, as awareness of climate change-related risks and opportunities is increasing down the supply chain. Over three quarters (76%) of suppliers responding to CDP have identified some inherent climate change risks to their business and more than half (52%) report that they have integrated climate change into their business strategy.
